Yes, we do fish for Barracuda in the Naples area. Barracuda Sphyraena Barracuda very good game fish, getting up to 70 lbs. The Florida record is 67 lbs. caught in Islamorada FL They are shaped with a snake like body with sharp fang like teeth that can cut prey like scissors. They are a dark blue green or gray in color with stripes on sides. Barracudas are ferocious predators the can do short bursts of speed up to 40 mph to catch their prey. There have been reports of swimmers getting bitten very rarely, usually caused by poor visibility.

Barracuda like bait to move fast so we will troll using 10-12 inch blue runners 3-4 ft. steel wire 27 lb. to 96 lb. #7-9 j-hook with 6 inch steel leader with treble hook as a stinger hook #7 hook through the nose and treble hook in the tail. When they hit the bait they usually attack it from behind and bite up to the head. They are good to fish all year and like to give you a fight if you line em. They do like the deeper water but like to feed inshore on large schools where they can slice right through them. With Barracuda fishing its all about the thrill of the fight similar to Tarpon fishing.

Barracuda fish have oily flesh, and if they've eaten enough prey that has consumed too much algae, their meat is also potentially poisonous to humans.
